Current Department of Health and Human Services clinical antiretroviral guidelines recommend the use of certain 2 drug regimens as optimization of therapy in persons living with HIV. Clinicians remain hesitant to utilize 2 drug regimen vs traditional 3 drug regimens despite 5 years of commercial availability, promising data, and guideline recommendations. Join Dr. Leanne Allas for a 45-minute presentation where she will review the use of 2 drug antiretroviral regimens as treatment optimization for persons living with HIV. She will discuss available antiretroviral drug combinations to treat persons with HIV, benefits the switch from the traditional 3-drug antiretroviral regimens to 2-drug antiretroviral regimens, and current switch clinical studies. By the end of this presentation pharmacists will be able to identify patients that may be eligible for a switch to a 2-drug antiretroviral regimen.
